Welcome back! I hope you had the most amazing summer ever! Maybe you spent endless days at the beach, or ate a lot of cheeseburgers at family barbecues, or just enjoyed sleeping a bit more.
Regardless, I hope you had a great time and made special memories with your family and friends. I was busy at work for much of the summer, but I did have some fun too. Here’s me in London – where I spent a week in August. You’ll notice I am reading – which I hope you did a lot of this summer. That includes logging minutes with the Fairfield Public Library (our school goal was 100,000 minutes logged), trying to meet the reading goal you set for yourself way back in June, and having your parents take a picture of you reading over the summer and posting it at
For the first day of school, please remember to bring two important things with you to school. First, your completed math packet. Please make sure you return it to your homeroom teacher on the first day of school. Second, the best book you read all summer. Please bring it to school on the first day because we will be completing a fun project with it on day 2 (Friday, August 31st.)
We have a lot to share with you this year. Three important words that we will be using a lot this year are understanding, respect, and responsibility. Instead of Burr CARES, you will hear a lot about Be Understanding, Respectful, and Responsible – which, by the way, spells out BURR.
Whether you are new to Burr or someone who has spent all of their school years here, welcome, welcome, welcome back! I can’t wait to see you soon.
Enjoy your last few days of summer!
